Andrea Young is a dynamic technology executive with more than 20 years experience driving innovation and growth for multiple industries within the Colorado tech economy.
Currently, Andrea is the CEO of Colorado Technology Association, a statewide, not-for-profit technology association successfully advancing the tech industry for more the 20 years.
Undeniably, tech is a vital component to commerce in today’s economy and it’s important to have a vibrant ecosystem to stay competitive. To that end, CTA helps technology businesses grow and our workforce be relevant in terms of future occupations. This includes the facilitation of development a strong talent pipeline. Tech in Colorado is several points higher than the national average making up more than 10% of our economy. CTA membership is comprised of a broad spectrum of emerging to enterprise organizations inclusive of tech consumers, providers, professionals, partners, public officials, educators and students.
Prior to joining CTA as the CEO, Andrea was the Executive responsible for Research and Development, Engineering, and Information Technology disciplines with BI Incorporated, a GEO Group Company. Young’s responsibilities included the management of the industry’s largest Software as a Service (SaaS) public safety platform supporting more than 70,000 program participants daily. Andrea’s primary focus was driving innovative product development solutions designed to help BI achieve its strategic goals and continue to advance BI’s reputation as a technology leader. During Andrea’s tenure, BI more than doubled in size, introduced more than six new advanced electronic and software products, and successfully completed several IT Security Certifications and Accreditations with Federal and State Agencies.
In addition, Ms. Young was Chief Technology Officer and Senior Vice President of Information Technology for Janus Capital Group. While at Janus, Andrea was responsible for directing the Information Technology strategies, systems and support for Janus’ global enterprise, including the digital transformation of all financial transactional capabilities and strengthening of their Cyber and Data Privacy infrastructure as Janus’ first Data Privacy Officer.
Andrea has served several non-profit Boards, including CTA Board Chair, Board President of New Foundations for Nonviolence Center, and Industry Advisory Board Member of the University of Denver School of Engineering and Computer Science. Andrea holds a B.S. degree in Business and Information Systems and an MBA from University of Denver.
